Another Winter Poem

Another Winter Poem
By Laura Kelsey

The pained beauty of winter,
evident in the solid lake,
broken water healed
by the chapped hand
of the season.

Ice curls and puffs
out from window edges
like transparent memories
made cloudy with age
or purpose.

Beyond the glass,
long months
short days;
blue light treading
between its double-panes.

Snow-smothered and silence-soaked,
do you sleep through winter
or deal with it?
